Updating and outdated headboard in a day.

Good Morning...its been a while.....since I've posted anything....all is good in case you missed me....or not!  Here is an update.... We moved in to temporary housing until November.....My husband set up my new workshop and put my paints in  Alphabetical order...I don't work that way....but Thank You ,,,,  I lost 7.8 pounds on a new program that I am following called IsAgenix and I'm back to the gym and yoga full time...  Ahhhh but you wanted to see the head board... I have to do this fast as I'm delivering it at 8:30 and its 7:36...here goes

My temporary work shop

Blah 1990's white wash Head Board
I painted the first coat in Annie Sloan Versailles .  Then added tape strips

I took every other strip of tape off and made sure the remaining were nice an smoothly attached.

I added Annie Sloan Old White to the area's where I removed the tape

Removed the tape and you have perfect stripes

Added wax and a white wash...a bit of sanding and here is the beach look we were going for.

Love it!  Okay now to deliver it..
Oh did I mention that this piece is going to the Sandy devastated area of Ortley Beach NJ....I love helping the folks at the beach still trying to put their lives back together....

Oh The Glamour !

It is so funny how life changes!  In my former life I would be up at 4:30 AM, dressed and full make up and on a bus to NYC by 5:30 am.  Now as a life as a painter this is what I wear!
PJ bottoms and Uggs

I love to paint and the many challenges that I receive from my clients!  I do spend a lot of time, researching, combining colors, looking for the right pulls and knobs....This is command central.....not exactly what you expected I am sure.
every breakfast is eaten here while looking for the perfect picture

Today, is a final delivery day for a client that I have been working with for over one year!
This is here last piece
I will miss working with Amy as she has so many wonderful ideas that have pushed me to visit and accomplish all of them.  The following pictures is our last years journey!

There are many more....but I didn't want to bore you all!   Thank You So Much For The Opportunity!
Happy Holiday!

Too Many Coincidences This Morning

This morning I'm going through my emails and saw one from Pinterest Weekly "new pin picks".   They were highlighting Sarah Richardson Design ( Designer and TV Personality).  Also this morning I received an email from a client of mine, that was writing about a piece that I worked on for her.  She was thrilled that her  50" TV was now installed on the top of the buffet.

I thought this call for a blog....

This just goes to show you that old can be new again....with just a little bit of imagination.  Wishing everyone a happy, thankful Thanksgiving!

Dear Corinne,

How to restore a Trunk that was in Super Storm Sandy

Well, its been a years since SSS hit the Jersey Shore .  All of us that live in the area has their own special story to tell.

My clients home is on the bay-side of Seaside Heights New Jersey which is a barrier island.  Their home was destroyed by the storm.
One item that she wanted to keep was the steamer trunk that her grandmother came to this country with from Italy.
~after the storm~
the salt water just ate away the bottom and the insides

~All of her keepsake items were destroyed that were in the trunk for safe keeping ~

The first thing that we did was to rebuild the entire inside of the trunk

The hardest part was keeping the rust from bleeding through the paint

I used primer, shellac spray, liquid shellac and rust-oleum  to ward off the rust....finally 98% was contained...I camouflaged the little brown spots with Artisan Enhancements By Aloha Coatings
fine stone.  Which gave it a sandy/gritty look to it.

added the base coat with was a combination of Annie Sloan's Louis Blue,
Old White, Provence and Antibes
The outside was painted in Annie Sloan Old White ~ The hardware was
painted a CeCe Caldwell black with a bronze glaze by Valspar (Metal & Patina Glaze)

The legs were purchased at Loews

The finished product

The trunk will now be used as a Jewelry box ( I purchased these two boxes from Marshall's) added cup hooks for hanging of necklaces and bracelets.  The tray was painted in washable paint which will be used for storing and appling makeup.  The tray lifts out for storage underneath.    We replaced the handles which were purchased at Antique-Hardware which had everything imaginable for restoring a steamer trunk.

This was probably one of the most difficult projects that Shore Chicy by Harmonizing Homes  has tackled - and the most rewarding...It is now back in Seaside Heights in a freshly painted room.
